Careers in Code Student Success Stories is a series focused on our coding bootcamp graduates. We’re following their progress in the six months after graduation to learn about projects they’re working on, job placements, and other exciting updates. Our first cohort graduated in August 2019.

Larry Goodman graduated from cohort 3 of Careers in Code on Thursday September 8. However, just before graduation he began his new role as Software Developer Apprentice at Terakeet in August.

Larry said that his current job is focused on the back-end of Terakeet’s internal software. As he’s just begun this new position, Larry said he can’t speak in-depth about any projects, however he did mention that he received his first ticket in August.

As for his life before Careers in Code, Larry said that he is “a loving father/brother/cousin/uncle/fiancé, and educator; high school dropout; college graduate (Onondaga Community College: Associate’s degree — Magna Cum Laude); overcomer of homelessness, recidivism, and chemical dependency; pandemic superhero; lifelong learner; XR/Technology enthusiast; proud student of YouTube University and future graduate of Careers in Code”

Larry said that the connections he made through Careers in Code with Syracuse Surge were a huge help in starting his new role as a software developer. He said that it was through the Syracuse Surge Coding Apprenticeship that he got his position with Terakeet.

We’re so excited to keep up with Larry and watch him continue to grow as a software developer. Congratulations, Larry!
