Careers in Code Student Success Stories is a series focused on our coding bootcamp graduates. We’re following their progress after graduation to learn about projects they’re working on, job placements, and other exciting updates. Our first cohort graduated in August 2019.

Careers in Code graduate Tim Liles enrolled in the program because he thought it was “a great opportunity to start a career in a promising field of work”.

Nearly 1.5 years after graduation, we’re so excited for Tim’s new role working with the City of Syracuse! Tim exemplified what it means to have Grit. He had the passion and perseverance toward his ultimate goal of getting a job as a software developer. We cannot wait to see where this new role takes him.

Tim’s new role is a Web Design Specialist with the City of Syracuse. Currently, he helps to support support the City’s website by making frequent updates from departments within City Hall. In addition, he’s helping to usher in the launch of a completely new website that will modernize the way residents and constituents interact with the city and vice versa, developing additional auxiliary websites for the City, and helping to establish a new Digital Services team.

“I think Careers in Code helped me with my new role by teaching me everything that goes into being a developer from writing code, understanding the software development life cycle, and the different roles and responsibilities within tech and how they support each other to achieve the goals of their organizations.”

Keep up with Tim by connecting with him on LinkedIn.
