Tompkins Trust Company’s Passion for Community and Innovation

This April, we are honored to have Tompkins Trust Company return as a sponsor for Hack Upstate XV. The Central NY-based financial services company shares our passion for community and innovation with a mission that naturally aligns with our biannual hackathon.

“Sponsoring Hack Upstate has been a great experience,” says Christian Isaac, IT Systems Administrator. “It’s inspiring to see young adults use their creativity to come up with technical solutions to everyday problems. Last year, I was amazed at the ideas that were presented and often the end result surpassed what I even imagined. Seeing their passion for problem solving, especially with community issues, inspires hope.”

Tompkins Trust Company has taken some of that inspiration into their own growth regarding their digital banking experience. Last summer, Tompkins upgraded its digital banking services for consumers, and just recently completed its digital upgrade for business customers as well.

Additionally, the company recently implemented an Innovation Team, which will focus on how Tompkins can further enhance the customer experience by providing innovative banking products and identifying creative solutions to the digital banking experience.

“In just one year, we’ve made great progress in the digital landscape for our customers, business partners, and community partners,” says Aundre Seals, Marketing & Community Relations Officer.

“I think we’re trying to capture some of the passion and drive that we see from events like Hack Upstate XV,” Isaac adds. “We’re looking to focus on how to better serve our community and provide technical solutions that can improve the day-to-day. I think I’m most passionate about trying to understand what’s next and I think those within Hack Upstate have the same passion.”

As well as its continued support of Hack Upstate, Tompkins Trust Company fosters their relationship with the community through several other tech partnerships. These include sponsoring the “Scientists of the Future Reception” for the Boyce Thompson Institute, Ithaca High School Code Red Robotics, and the very first QinFolk Festival in Ithaca, a weekend-long festival that focused on the works of transgender people of color — everything from arts and sciences to tech, education, literature, and cinema.
